Our Annual canned food drive to benefit St. Vincent’s House will begin November 1st and run through the morning of November 15th. Student Council will stock the shelves of St. Vincent’s House of Hope on November 15th with all canned goods received! Celebrate milestones such as graduations, honors, memorials and special events with an engraved paver.  Proceeds from your purchase will be used to fund the maintenance and operations of the Robert L. and Ann Moody Activity Center. Order Form Attached.

 

 

TES FALL CARNIVAL on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9th from 12:00-3:00 pm on the Garth!

It is time for the TES Fall Carnival! Wristband required to enter. IMPORTANT: Stay & Play & Extended Day are not available for this day (Nov 9). No after school care is provided, all students PK2-8th must be picked up at NOON.

4th ANNUAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SAFETY EDUCATION PROGRAM

November 15th from 11:00 am – 1:30 pm

LAw Enforcement

This is a wonderful opportunity for children and families to have a positive one-on-one interaction with law enforcement. The students will have the opportunity to view law enforcement equipment and ask in person questions. Join us outside Trinity Episcopal School from 11:00 am – 1:30 pm on Thursday, November 15th!

HELPING YOUR CHILD SUCCEED BY CULTIVATING A GROWTH MINDSET

November 15th in Eaton Hall 5:30-6:30 pm

To further a sense of belongingness and community at Trinity, the PTO would like to invite all parents and guardians to our first Book/Video Club on social and emotional learning! Beth Auslander, Ph.D., psychologist/professor in the UTMB Department of Pediatrics and parent of a Trinity 5th grader will lead our discussion. Please see attached flyer for details.

BASKETBALL

 

It’s basketball season! Come cheer on the Chargers as they take on Pasadena First Baptist on Tuesday, November 13th. Girls play at 4 pm, Boys B Team at 5 pm, and Boys A Team at 6 pm. Trinity Students and Staff are always free to attend games, and adult tickets are $5.

 

S.P.A.R.Q. TRAINING

Coach Johnson will be hosting a SPARQ Camp for students interested in working with Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction, and Quickness. Grades K-8 are welcome.

Sessions will be 3-4 pm on Fridays. All participating students will join the Extended Day group at 3:00 pm dismissal and will go with Coach Johnson from there.  Pick up your student at 4:00 pm in the MAC with Extended Day.

It will be a FUN experience regardless of age with a variety of drills!

COST:  $10 per session. Please make payment to TES and reference SPARQ Training.

BOOK FAIR: A HUGE SUCCESS!!

Thank you to everyone who supported our recent Scholastic Enchanted Forest Book Fair. Our Book Fair was made possible with the help of many many volunteers! A HUGE thank you to everyone who gave your time – You are greatly appreciated! We far surpassed our goal and grossed well over $13,000.00! Book Fair proceeds will benefit our school and classroom libraries. Your contributions placed books in the hands of children and helped to grow imaginations! THANK YOU!!

SQUARE ART ORDERS DUE TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6th

REMINDER: Your child’s special Square Art Orders are due by this Tuesday, November 6th. You can order online, by phone, or return your completed order form and payment to your child’s homeroom teacher. Please call Square Art Coordinator, Pamela Gabriel at 409-789-4990 if you have questions. No late orders can be accepted. Square Art order forms went home in your child’s Oct 26th Friday folder. Square Art is a fundraiser to help support the 8th grade field trip to Boston.

TES FALL CARNIVAL on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9th from 12:00-3:00 pm on the Garth!

It is time to order for the TES Fall Carnival! Entrance to the fall carnival will be via wristband ($20/each), the wristband will allow access to all booths and inflatables. (No tickets) You must purchase an additional wristband ($5) for access to the rock wall and game room.  The 8th graders will be selling food as a fundraiser for their annual trip to Boston.  BBQ sandwiches and baked potatoes may be purchased in advance, and additional carnival type food will be available for purchase during the carnival. The order form for wristbands and BBQ is attached and will be sent home in the Friday folders.  All wristbands MUST be purchased in advance.  Deadline for all orders is Friday, November 2, 2018. Parents do not need wristbands. 

IMPORTANT: Stay & Play & Extended Day are not available for this day (Nov 9). No after school care is provided, all students PK2-8th must be picked up at NOON.

BBQ Tickets and wristbands will be sent home the day of the carnival. Please direct any questions to Randy Garcia or Lindsay Sonstein.

BOX TOP CLASSROOM COMPETITIONS – EXTENDED

Spirit Day has been moved to November 9th – so we are extending our Box Top competition for an additional week! Keep sending in those Box Tops!! The classes the collect the most will win a picnic on the Garth!

It’s time for those clipped Box Tops!  Remember, Spirit Day = Box Top Day. Next  Friday, November 2, the Box Tops will be counted to see which class collected the most to win! Who’s close to getting a picnic on the Garth, you ask?! Mrs. Jobe (PK4), Mrs. Shaffner (5th) and Mrs. Carpentier (6th) are leading their packs for the Fall competition. Keep them coming! And a big kudos to LaDale Rein (mom to Erin/Kinder & Ashley/3rd) for volunteering to help with the Box Top collection process.

The Lady Chargers Volleyball team took 1st place in District for the third year in a row! The Lady Chargers team went undefeated this season with a 16-0 record! Congratulations to our outstanding volleyball team and Coach Lisa Higgins!

GET YOUR PINK ON! – Friday, October 26th

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Bishop Cilley Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society will once again sponsor a PINK OUT on Friday, October 26. Students, staff and families are invited to wear pink or any appropriate breast cancer awareness t-shirt with blue jeans. A Funston shirt is perfect!

Donations will be collected all week in the classrooms. All money collected will be sent to our local D’Feet Breast Cancer Organization.

At 2:15 pm, we will gather by the MAC and walk around the block to bring an awareness to our community as we join in Walking for the Cure. Won’t you join us? 

GAMING TOURNAMENT – OCT 26th 6:00-8:00 pm

Next Friday, October 26th, from 6:00-8:00 pm, we will have a Gaming Tournament for TES students and families who play the video game: MADDEN ’19.

Cost for entry is $15.00. Enough equipment for the tournament to take place must be volunteered by participants: consoles/controllers/games.

There will be no cost reduction for volunteering equipment. The only way these tourneys can continue to take place is if participants are willing to volunteer their equipment for tournament usage.  The equipment goes back home with you at the end of the tourney.

ALL SAINTS SERVICE – NOVEMBER 1st

During the All Saints Service on November 1st, names of loved ones who have passed this past year will be read during the service. Please send names of family, friends, or relatives to your child’s teacher no later than October 26th. Thank you.

FALL CARNIVAL on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9th from 12:00-3:00 pm!

It is time to order for the TES Fall Carnival! Entrance to the fall carnival will be via wristband ($20/each), the wristband will allow access to all booths and inflatables. (No tickets) You must purchase an additional wristband ($5) for access to the rock wall and game room.  The 8th graders will be selling food as a fundraiser for their annual trip to Boston.  BBQ sandwiches and baked potatoes may be purchased in advance and additional carnival type food will be available for purchase during the carnival. The order form for wristbands and BBQ is attached and will be sent home in the Friday folders.  All wristbands MUST be purchased in advance.  Deadline for all orders is Friday, November 2, 2018. A Sponsorship form is also attached.

Coach Johnson will be hosting a SPARQ Camp for students interested in working with Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction, and Quickness. Grades K-8 are welcome.

Sessions will be 3-4 pm on Fridays. All participating students will join the Extended Day group at 3:00 pm dismissal and will go with Coach Johnson from there.  Pick up your student at 4:00 pm in the MAC with Extended Day.

It will be a FUN experience regardless of age with a variety of drills!

COST:  $35 for all 4 sessions or $10 per session. Please make payment to TES and reference SPARQ Training.

Complimentary tickets for students and parents accompanying them are available for the Galveston Symphony Orchestra's Halloween Concert on Sunday, October 14th at 4:00 pm. Reserve your tickets by emailing Alice O'Quinn at aliceoquinn@gmail.com. Tickets are available to be picked up at 3:00 pm on the day of the performance. Ticket requests should be sent by Thursday, October 11th. This is a great opportunity to hear some fabulous spooky music!

  

GRADES 3-8: FIRST EVER TRINITY GAMING TOURNAMENT!

Tonight kicks off the first ever Gaming Tournament! With continued interest, there will be regularly scheduled Gaming Tournaments throughout this year. Students were asked to share their favorite video games, and we will choose the competition games from their answers. Tonight's tournament starts at 6:00 pm. Registration and $10 entry fee was due Thursday at 10:00 am, but you are welcome to come to cheer on the competitors. Tonight's games will be Rocket League & Madden '19.  Pizza provided. On Friday, October 5th, at 8:15 am, we will celebrate St. Francis of Assisi by honoring our pets. If you have a live pet that you can bring to this celebration, we would love to give it a blessing. This is an outdoor chapel service on the Beginning School Playground. If you bring a live pet, please make sure it is secured by a leash, crate, or box. The service will last about 30 minutes. If you do not have a living creature to bring for a blessing, your child may bring a special stuffed animal. The Blessing of the Pets is a wonderful Episcopalian tradition led by Father Ed.

It was a busy and exciting day for our Head of School for the Day, Miss Sarah! She was busy answering emails, touring the school, meeting faculty and staff, checking on our students, and working through her to-do list. Thank you for a wonderful, productive day, Miss Sarah!

GO GOLD! – Friday, September 21st

In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, everybody is invited to wear GOLD with blue jeans or uniform bottoms on Friday. Students are encouraged, but not required, to bring a donation next week, even a penny helps. During chapel on Tuesday, the second-grade students will share a video about why this is such an important cause. TAE KWON DO LESSONS

Renowned Martial Arts instructor, Master Ishmael Robles, will be returning to Trinity for after-school classes beginning Thursday, September 20th in the MAC from 3:15-4:00 pm. Congratulations to the following students who qualify for the Duke Talent Identification Program: Mada Berry, Charli Dean, Evelyn Gault, Vann Latham, and Ella Sullivan.

These students scored above the 95th percentile on the IOWA or CoGat standardized test. This accomplishment has qualified them to take either the ACT or SAT as a 7th grader. We are so proud of their academic achievement!!

SAFEGUARDING CLASS

All parent volunteers must be currently certified in Safeguarding God’s Children.  Certification is valid for 5 years. Our first class is Wednesday, September 12th, 6:00-8:00 pm in the Lower School Cafeteria. The signup deadline for the Sept 12th class is passed, if you missed it this time, but want to be notified when the next class will be offered, please contact Rachel Brown rbrown@tesgalv.org. A BOX TOP A DAY SENDS 10¢ OUR WAY!

Exciting rewards are in store for the class with the most Box Tops this Fall! The winning Lower School and Middle School class will get to eat their lunches on the Garth one sunny, cool fall day. The winning Beginning School class will get to eat their morning snack on the Garth. Picnic blankets provided! AND… collectively if we beat our total from last year, Mr. Ravelli will put our earnings towards new resources for your favorite teachers! A list of products & official collection sheets is available on btfe.com. Monthly collections will be gathered on Spirit Days.
