Dear Trinity Families and Friends,
On Tuesdays and Thursdays your child has the opportunity to start their school day off with Morning Prayer. If you can make this 25 minute service it is a rewarding way to share a moment, not only with your child, but with our school community. I promise it will be an abundant means to start your day, with a rewarding and powerful time of comfort. Each grade leads a segment of the Morning Prayer and it is just one of the many ways we promote leadership here at Trinity.
On Wednesday, November 1, Holy Communion will be offered. As always, parents are welcome to attend and participate with us. Students and adults are invited to receive communion at our school. If you do not wish your child to receive communion, please discuss this with your child, so s/he will know not to receive. (A question for this purpose was a part of your child’s Permission/Authorization form, so please inform us in writing if your wishes have changed.) Any child who is not receiving communion should cross arms over his or her chest at the altar rail. When the clergy see arms crossed, they will give a blessing instead of offering communion. A person may receive bread alone declining the cup if they so choose….receiving in “one kind.” We depend upon our parents to judge if receiving communion at school is compatible with the religious beliefs and practices of their families.
At Trinity Episcopal School, Holy Communion is typically offered two or three times per year. Each person who partakes receives a small piece of bread and a small sip of diluted wine. Traditionally, on All Saints Day we remember those special persons in our lives who have died in the past year and gone before us to the nearer presence of God. At the time of our prayers, names of the deceased will be read from lists made by our classroom teachers.
Please submit names from your family to your oldest enrolled child’s homeroom teacher by Friday, October 27th.
Faithfully,
Mark Ravelli / Head of School
