FACULTY SPOTLIGHT

 Meet Mrs. Lisa Higgins

This is Mrs. Higgins's tenth year teaching and fourth year at Trinity. She was born in Galveston and finally returned 13 years ago. Mrs. Higgins graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor’s in Political Science and a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice. After spending many years in retail management, upon returning to the island, Mrs. Higgins decided to pursue a career in teaching. Along with teaching middle school history, Mrs. Higgins has absolutely loved every second of coaching volleyball (she has had four undefeated seasons and four district champions to prove it!) Mrs. Higgins loves to run, paddle board, read, bake, and spend time with her family. One of the reasons she chose history was because when she was young, she loved it, but it was always boring the way her teachers taught it. She always promised herself that if she became a teacher, she would teach history in a way that kids would actually love it and appreciate it. Mrs. Higgins spends hours each year finding new and exciting ways to teach her students to keep them engaged in the classroom and excited about history. Mrs. Higgins feels very lucky to have a job where it doesn’t feel like she is actually working and she is so thankful to be a part of the TES family!
