Week At A Glance 8-13-2021

    WAG Header New

Over the course of the summer months and especially as we all collectively experience this fourth wave of COVID 19, I want to thank the individuals who helped shape Trinity Episcopal School's Health & Safety Policy. Our response to COVID 19 can be found HERE in our Health, Safety and Facilities Governing Document and as an attachment to this WAG. I urge you to read all communications as this is an ever-evolving situation. We will get through this together and as stated many times, our number one priority is the health and safety of all individuals on campus, as well as, a strong commitment to in-person instruction. -Mark Ravelli, Head of School

Out with the old and in with the new! When you return to campus next week, you will be greeted by a brand new, bigger and better playground! Thank you to our Facilitiies Manager, Ron Cordero, for all of his hard work on this project. We also thank all of you who donated to Annual Fund, as the dollars raised through that campaign allow us to implement these improvements.

We are pleased to announced that Trinity will again offer students, faculty, and staff high quality, catered options for lunch. We are proud to have Todd Schott with Chopin Mon Ami as a partner and we look forward to bringing you healthy, delicous meals! The menu for August is attached here and can always be found on the home page of our website. Lunches are $7.50 each and can be purchased in quantities of 20 for $150. Students will let their teacher know each morning if they are having a catered lunch. If you'd like to sign up for this option, please email our Finance Director, Melanie Buck (mbuck@tesgalv.org), to have your account billed.

Please make plans to join us this Monday, August 16th for Parent Orientation at 6 pm. This event is adults only! After a brief program in the santuary at Trinity Episcopal Church, you will be able to depart for your child(ren)'s classrooms. If you are a brand new family to TES or a Trinity Ambassador, don't forget that we will have our Mixer on the garth at 5 pm.

NEW this year! Our Parent Volunteer Form has gone digital! If you're looking to give back to your child's school, while also forming friendships and stepping into a great role in our Charger community, we would love to have you! Please fill out the Parent Volunteer Form HERE and indicate your desired placement. We will be in touch with you as each project approaches its start date. Thank you for making TES the best it can possibly be, we couldn't do it without our volunteers! *Please fill out this form by August 31st!*

We understand that there are several students who have uniforms backordered from Mills due to a strain on their supply chain. We are understanding of this situation and will work with you to accomodate your children. Also, remember that there is a Used Uniform Closet on campus (Randall Hall/Cafeteria). Each item is $4 and you can pay via cash, check, or have it billed to your account. There is always new inventory coming in, so you never know what you may find!

Led by the Holy Spirit and supported by your prayers, the Vestry has accepted the recommendation of the Search Committee and called The Reverend Jimmy Abbott to be the 12th Rector of our beloved Trinity Church. We all unanimously and firmly believe that Jimmy is the right person to lead us in the next phase in our mission to fulfill God’s purposes for us both individually and as a community of faith.

I am filled with joy and gratitude as I bring this welcome news. Jimmy, his wife Maggie, and their seven-year-old daughter Lydia (an incoming TES second grader) are excited to be joining us. The Search Committee is excited. The Vestry is excited. Everyone is excited and we believe that you will be, too!

Jimmy will be introducing himself to you all very soon. His first Sunday at Trinity is August 22. We invite you to join us for an outdoor celebration immediately following the 10:30 am service on the garth. There will be a fun surprise for the kids and refreshments! -Susan Duif, Senior Warden

Meet Mr. Ernesto Gallegos

Please give a warm welcome to Ernesto Gallegos, our new K-5 Spanish teacher! Ernesto Américo Gallegos was born in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, México and came to America with his parents, as a resident alien in 1978. Ernesto has two younger brothers, grew up in Weatherford Texas, and graduated Weatherford High in 1996. That year Ernesto became a citizen of the United States, through the process of naturalization. He graduated from Weatherford College with an associate of arts in 2016 and was awarded the 2016 WC Spanish student of the year award. Ernesto graduated from Midwestern State University in December 2018 with a B.A.A.S.(Bachelors of applied arts and science) with a concentration in Human Services. He is excited to be the TES K-5th grade Spanish teacher and is closely working with Ms. Mota to ensure a smooth transition. He loves Galveston, running along the seawall, and the arts! He is currently training for the 50th Houston half marathon in January. He states, “children are our future, I became a teacher because of my love for the students, and the Spanish language! God bless each and every one of us.”

"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance."
